The ICDD’s Team realises the challenges facing the developing world in fulfilling the 17 United Nations’s (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Targets, since its evolution at the UN World Summit of 2015 for 2030.

Every developing country requires Official Development Aids (ODA). Also, there is a need for ODA in every sector in developing countries. The tasks facing the Team are to identify the right agency or donor for the right national or local recipient.

The Team will assist, and work closely with relevant parties at the international, regional, national, local governments, and all other related stakeholders to:

  1. Promote and improve the recipient’s approach, policy, strategy, and programmes of the international cooperation process.
  2. Study, identify, and analyse needs at various levels, and recommend the most appropriate approach and process.
  3. Assist in building capacity, and related culture for international cooperation at the international, regional, national, local, and corporate levels.
  4. Assist in building capacities in this field, including exchange programmes, technical visits, workshops, seminars, conferences and training.
  5. Coordinate with local, national and international research establishments to promote international cooperation through scientific research.

○ Promote and improve the international cooperation process (ICP).

ICDD is responsible for closely coordinating with the relevant country-specific and city-specific recipients to clarify, formulate and set the principles and guidelines for the ICP’s approaches, policies, strategies, plans, programmes, projects, implementation and follow-up.

○ Needs Studies

Studying the recipients’ needs within the ICP is the prerequisite service of the ICDD. This will include a comprehensive study, identification, and analysis of various elements of the selected departments.

Accordingly, the ICDD would be able to recommend the most appropriate actions and road map.

○ Capacity Building and Development (CBD).

Based on the Needs Study’s outcomes, ICDD will be able to assist recipient(s) in planning, building and developing capacities required to effectively plan, design, implement, and evaluate, in coordination with the selected donor(s), a sound, pioneering and innovative ICP.

○ Additional Mechanisms for the CBD.

ICDD’s services include building capacities for the ICP, including exchange programmes, technical visits, workshops, seminars, conferences and hands-on training. This should eventually result in establishing a core national and/or local team.

This team would be the think tank at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the selected country for the ICP.

○ Research Coordination for International Cooperation

Scientific Research (SR) allows ICDD to develop, test, refine and evaluate the acceptability and cost-effectiveness of new and improved programmes, projects, tools, approaches and interventions that focus on the key concerns of a selected developing country.

SR also helps inform policy, and strategic direction of programs, and overcome barriers to implementation in selected developing country settings.

Horizon Europe of the European Commission (EC) offers opportunities to researchers and innovators from all over the world, albeit with the possibility of restrictions where necessary.

The EU has bilateral agreements with 20 individual countries around the world, based on common interests and priorities, aiming to increase cooperation in research and innovation.

ICDD has a strong position to assist developing countries in building and promoting international technical cooperation for the sustainable development process.

It deals with various socio-economic and environmental subjects, including sustainable development policies and strategies, disaster risk reduction, sustainable transport, sustainable safe mobility, research programmes, and capacity building and development.
